VTLWaveNet, part of the Viatel Group, is pleased to announce a
partnership with the French highways company, Autoroutes
Paris-Rhin-Rhône (APRR) and the Urban Community of Besançon to
deploy a unique fibre digital infrastructure.
Located in an area of France where many of the telecom operators
do not have a high-capacity network, the City of Besançon
invested first in a local metropolitan network to improve
the existing infrastructure and bandwidth. Decision-makers at
the Urban Community of Besançon then agreed to extend this
fibre network to Strasbourg and Lyon in order to access affordable,
high quality connectivity.
APRR and VTLWaveNet have worked together to build a consortium in
which they provide one fibre pair with co-location at sites
from Lyon to Besançon to Strasbourg.
In partnership with APRR, VTLWaveNet has been instrumental in
assisting the Urban Community of Besançon in its mission to provide
digital infrastructure to businesses and public entities in
the Besançon area.
"This project aligns with current French state objectives to
deploy fibre digital infrastructure in all areas across the
entire country," said Claude LAMBEY of Urban Community of
Besançon. "We look forward to a long and successful
relationship with VTLWaveNet and APRR".
"The VTLWaveNet and APRR partnership was selected over
alternative links due to our competitive and flexible offering
which met the customer's requirements now and into the
future," said Kerstin Dinklage SVP Sales & Business
Development at VTLWaveNet.
"APRR is proud to have been able to build an international
consortium to deliver a top-class network to the Besançon local
authorities. By partnering with VTLWaveNet we have been able to
take advantage of two networks and deploy this fibre network
solution capable of delivering the next generation
services that users increasingly expect," said René
Bérard from APRR.
